At Carling Endodontics, we offer two forms of sedation:

Oral Sedation

With this type of conscious sedation, you will be given an oral sedative medication at our office. You will feel relaxed and at ease during the procedure while maintaining consciousness. This is a great option for individuals who have anxiety about root canal treatment, difficulty tolerating the dental dam, have a sensitive gag reflex or cannot rest comfortably in the dental chair due to neck or back problems.

If you are interested in sedation during your treatment, please contact our office to schedule a consultation. We will have to thoroughly review your medical history and medications. During the consultation appointment, further instructions will be given regarding the procedure.

Nitrous Oxide ( Laughing Gas)

Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective sedative agent that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose to help you relax. It is not intended to put you to sleep. You will be able to hear and respond to any requests or directions the dentist may have. Your dentist will ask you to breathe normally through your nose, and within a few short minutes you should start to feel the effects of the nitrous oxide. You may feel light-headed or a tingling in your arms and legs. Some people say their arms and legs feel heavy. Ultimately, you should feel calm and comfortable. The effects of nitrous oxide wear off soon after the mask is removed. the advantage of this type of sedation is that you will be able to drive yourself home after the procedure.

Please contact us if you are interested in this type of sedation.
